http://doctorducks.com/bayou/sitting.pngMikeGould had a specific purpose in mind when he set out to mate another line with his Grand River bloodline dog Scarlet. He has been searching for 2-3 years for a good outcross for his Grand River Bloodline. When he found Billy's breeder, he knew he had found the perfect match.

Both breeds are very similiar and bred for 3 main points:

  • Confirmation
    • physical appearance
    • tight feet
    • short coat
    • high tail
    • high head
    • proportional body
  • Intelligence
  • Birdiness

After the pairing of the two lines, MikeGould commented that the Grand River Bloodline was dominant in the puppies. This shows how powerful and strong the Grand River Bloodline is with these labradors.

The reason it was so difficult to find a suitable bloodline is because Labradors are the most popular dog in the US. And most owners do not train, or utilize the dogs natural instincts, so through the years, the natural selection gets diluted into laziness, and other negative characteristics that hunters do not want.

A good labrador is capable of running, and working all day long, and at the same time be able to harness its energy when inside a house etc. You want a dog that has enough energy and zeal to run its heart out one day, all day long. And then on another day, be able to relax at the owners feet and not cause a nuisance.
